Tudor Row

Tudor Row was created as a way to try and capture a traditional Tudor town street, such as can be found within my home city of Lichfield, England. Unlike the vast majority of my work which is modelled and designed for game engines, this project was modelled, textured and rendered within 3ds Max using Vray. This was done to try out different techniques that can only really be used when an image is rendered rather than real time, such as Forest Pack.
It was also interesting using 3ds Max opposed to Maya which I usually work, whilst having very similar tools and functions, they both feel very different from each other and have their pros and cons.

Within 3ds Max I started building the main building that will be the focus of the image. Using real Tudor buildings found in Lichfield as a reference.

Using the finished main building, alternative versions were created by interchanging the wall decor, window positions and textures. Once more were made, they were positioned into the scene, trying to capture the unlevel streets and tight ally ways.

In the last few stages I was trying to compose the scene in the most interesting way possible whilst adding depth to the image. Once happy, I rendered the image using Vray and edited it within Photoshop, adding extra details and colour correcting.
